What are the causes of the Retirement Gap ™?
- Life Expectancy – Male into 80’s, Female into late 80’s, Married couple odds are 50% one will live into 90’s. That is a long time to plan for. Most people have not planned for that long.
- Inflation – Even at 4% Inflation, the cost of goods and services will double every 18 years. The inflation rate is much higher now, so it is
truly time to measure your gap.
- Taxes – With increased taxes more money will be needed in before tax dollars to provide for needed Retirement Income.
- Making large loans to Family and Friends.
- Failing to consider Long – Term Care Needs.
- Overestimating how much you can withdraw from your nest egg.
- Over managing your Retirement Portfolio.
- Taking too much risk with investments.
- Underestimating expenses in retirement.
- Social Security.
- The death of Defined Benefit Pension Plans.
